I would like to share my experience with my 2026 Toyota 4Runner regarding a serious issue while driving uphill.

On a steep hill, the vehicle suddenly lost power and displayed a transmission oil temperature warning. The vehicle was no longer able to continue climbing, even with the accelerator fully pressed. I had to reverse back down the hill because the vehicle could not move forward anymore.

From the beginning of the climb, I was driving in Sport mode. When I noticed the vehicle was losing power, I switched to manual mode and tried 1st and 2nd gear. The vehicle moved a little farther, but then it stopped again and would not continue uphill.

This has happened more than once, which is very concerning. This is supposed to be a capable 4x4 SUV, and I would not expect this kind of overheating or power loss during a normal climb.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Could this be related to transmission cooling, software calibration, torque management, or a defect in the vehicle?
