Sorry JT.........:bah:

Can we still be friends?  I'm bringing moonshine if that helps.......
JttmfT gets on the shine, he will be friends with no one....
Crawl will be more like Fight Club than Cruiser Church.

Not sure why you didn't get an email, but we've got your registration. You're good to go.
I'm hearing about other email issues from another club with WordPress in 2024.

Yes, to get way deep into the weeds, this presents as a Wordpress email issue. I’m not convinced that’s the actual problem, but it seems that various SMTP plugins provide a workaround. I’ve tried two already, but our version of Wordpress is too old to support them. At this stage in the registration process I’m reluctant to attempt the upgrade.

I thought about a couple of options:

I can post the registration names as they come in either to the club website or here on Mud.

Or, if folks don’t want to be doxxed, I can reply to each of the PayPal emails we get after folks register..the personalized BangBang approach.

Thoughts?

Arkansas RLC posts/lists the names on the site as people register. I'm not sure how the PayPal confirmation emails are sent after the fact. I personally don't mind being listed. We haven't received a complaint. I think people can use made-up names on the site listing, like Jeffro Bodine. PayPal gets the real names. I think people see who all else is registered so they can be sure to be there. Roll with what you can support.

Explore Eventbrite: Event Organizer: Become an Event Hosting Legend - https://www.eventbrite.com/organizer/overview/

That's the direction I'd go if I was still helping run events. It does charge fees, but they aren't bad. Easier than managing Wordpress plugins, custom scripts, bad upgrades, etc. You might have to adjust things to fit their mold (like selling extra shirts, meals, etc), but it's pretty flexible overall.

I'm not sure how the PayPal confirmation emails are sent after the fact.

The Paypal payment collection is a separate process from the Wordpress site, and Paypal themselves are sending a payment complete email.

Sorry to butt in here. I was exploring the website and considering signing up and it pointed me to mud. Eventbrite is quite easy to work with. But I wanted to throw out a couple of other options. Obviously not this year, but for the future.

cvent and accelevents

Both of these I've used for big events from the attendee and admin side. Both have their pros and cons that differ. The benefit of moving to something like this is that every person who is coming will have a smart phone. Or at least 99% of them. You can do check in through QR codes. They can signup for things like trail runs or dinners or trainings or whatever and it's all on their phone and the schedule is tracked on their phone in real time. They can select what they want to attend and from your admin panel you can track attendance to events.

If you have trail leaders, they can scan QR codes and see who is at their run, and who is missing/attended. You can see who attended.

I don't know much about your event yet sorry. I just heard about it at the TLCA meeting yesterday, Bayou State Landcruisers down in Lafayette. But I thought I'd mention these if you've never heard of them.

I’m seeking volunteers for 3 rides Friday and 3 on Saturday…. 1 for each level, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced. Rally would be 9:30 at the pavilion with a 10am departure for each respective group. Wheeling until lunch ish and then open wheeling after that. Hit me up here or email steven@themanshipjackson.com if you are interested in being a trail leader or support for one of these runs.

I'll head up an Intermediate run on Friday :bounce2:

I’m not able to lead unfortunately but I was wondering when do we sign up for groups? This is my first event. Is it just the morning of?
Yes, we will have a meeting at the pavilion each morning and point out the trail leaders and organize. It also takes a couple support vehicles and if the groups get to big, the ability to break into smaller groups so it doesn't take all day to get through one trail. We will have more info at check-in as we gather volunteers etc.

I can lead or support a group one day, intermediate or advanced.......I mean, Bodean's Ex will go just about anywhere I tell it to.........I'll do a newbie group if needed. They may be a little intimidated with a buggy leading the way though.......

Mike you nailed it, I’ve offered at events and folks see a buggy and get worried. On the other hand, I want the fellow who can get himself or anyone else out of something leading.

I don’t mind tagging along for moral support😆

I always followed the buggies 🙃 I don't see a problem.
