It looks like Toyota is finally going to do some "major" changes to the 7x platform.

My sources (local distributor) confirmed the following for the GCC market

Automatic transmission for MY2024
Single fuel tank for the 79 (dual fuel is gone)
V6 turbo diesel engine
Front-end refresh
Brake upgrade
Euro 4 standard emissions
1GR-FE will continue as a bade gas engine (similar to the J300 base model).

Honestly, I'm really concrned with the drive-trains for the 70. I'd prefer a simple engine the J300 twin turbo has been full of issues here.

Anyone have info regarding general market ROW or Australia? What configurations and options will be available?

Not sure how much pull mining industry alone has on keeping the 1HZ alive.
If the reports are correct, the newer single cab 79 Series has airbags and a higher safety rating simply because the mining industry insisted on it. (Perhaps our friends from down under can confirm this).
If this is the case I would say the mining industry has a lot of influence. 😊

Drive train issues in the 300 Series?

Yup, it's well documented here with the twin turbo V6 gas engine. I'd hope it's temporary with the new drivetrain but there are a few of my customers going back to the dealership for engine overhaul or replacement.

The transmission also has issues with sticky and jerky shifting. Again, could be because it's a new model. But this is what's going on.

There were a few incidents where on accidents, the bodies are completely coming off the chassis. There was a nation wide recall for this in Saudi Arabia.

Does this spell the end of the 1HZ?

I really, really, hope this is not true!

I doubt Mr. T would change safety for ROW. I think the refresh for drivetrain is mostly for cross-compatibility with other platforms.

Land Cruiser, Prado, Hilux, Hiace. Historically, they used to share similar drive-trains. Not sure if this is still applicable. But I would assume so.

The J7x is the last Cruiser to get the 1VD-FTV engine. It would be sad to see it go. This engine has been a great engine for enthusiasts across the globe. Good power and proven reliability.

I will have the complete configuration list for middle east (GCC) spec vehicles by the end of August/ early September. By then, we can see what Mr. T did with the J70

The rumor I hear was they will use the hilux 4 cylinder twin turbo diesel as a replacement for the V8. Lets hope this is not true.

Good time to run out and buy a V8. 😊

Automatic transmission for MY2024 - that is a bad news hope they don't discontinue the manual transmission

Single fuel tank for the 79 (dual fuel is gone) - 79 isn't favourite here but it's bad idea from dual to single tank

V6 turbo diesel engine - better than the old heavy V8 but it will not be unique anymore

Front-end refresh - I hope they don't make it ugly or better leave as it is

Brake upgrade - good

Euro 4 standard emissions - we don't care

1GR-FE will continue as a bade gas engine - good I hope they keep this engine more longer
