stock size is 285/60/18. i need to get new tires. there are limited choices in this size. many more options for the 275/65/18. im thinking geolander G015, which is 40$less per tire for the 275/65 vs the 285/60. my question is, " would there be any reason to keep the stock size-285/60, aside from the speedo being off. is there any on road handling/performance compromise with the 275/65?

I have the G015 in stock size. I got them at Walmart for $135 per tire and was $125 after rebate. It doesn't look like they carry the G015 amymore in the stock size. They are good tires but if they were around $200 I would have stayed with the G2's that were on it in stock size. Don't forget that if you change tire size you should change the spare. If you stay stock then no need to change spare so that offsets the cost.

Walmart does have the G015 in the 275/65/18 for $153. Discount Tire will match that price.

The 275/65/18 is just slightly taller and narrower. You won't notice a difference.

hows the g015 vs the nitto grapler g2. ? im looking for solid on rode handling with occasional off road.

I went from stock to 275/65, it’s been about a month now, seem to fill the wheel wells and are not too skinny if you can tell a difference at all. The stock tires rubbed on full left reverse and so do these no different I thinks it’s the air deflector. Over all pleased, you will probably tell no difference

275/65r18 is a common replacement size for the stock 285/60r18. There may be theoretical pro’s & con’s but it’s not a huge difference. The stock tire has the speedo reporting higher speed than you’re going; 275/65r18 will be closer to accurate than stock.

285/65r18 will fit but is only available in LT-E rated tires which are much heavier and will impact ride and mpg. 275/70r18 will also fit, but most are LT rated except for the General Grabber APT which comes in a 42lb p metric.

LT tires are great if you need them for hard core off-road use as sidewall is much tougher. But a P rated tire will perform better on road with better acceleration, braking, ride and mpg. There are many choices of P rated highway and All Terrain tires in 275/65r18.

The G2 is not an LT tire so it rides good. It is just a tad noisier than the G015. The G2 looked better but I think they weigh about 10lbs more, 52lbs to 42lbs so worse gas mileage and longer braking distance. The G015 is very quiet and has good performance on road but it is not a dedicated off-road tire. G015 is better in rain and snow. Michelins are also really good but much pricier.
