It's winter and cold. Not sure when it happened, but when I turn on the LC when the coolant is still cold the climate control stays off. I have to hit the AUTO button myself to get the heat to come on. Default is 75 degrees every time.

After that, with the coolant warmed up, the climate control automatically sets to AUTO. Heat works great. As far as I can tell, AC works as well as do the ventilated seats.

I have read about the issue with the cabin filter change and it's impact on the AC but has anyone seen this affect the climate control default to OFF? I definitely know my LX570 didn't work like this.

If I'm understanding your question correctly, this could be because of the cabin filter change and not being done properly as you stated.

I remember with mine, even if I left it on when turning the car off, the next morning it would be off and I could not get it to turn on for a bit of time. When it would turn on the temp was at 75 no matter what I had left it at previously. After it would turn on everything would work fine, but it would always resort back to being off when turning the car on after a long period of time and be at 75.

Same issue and fix on our '13. Before I bought the truck, some Einstein changed the cabin filter with shutter in the recirc mode. :flipoff2::flipoff2:

Luckily no breakage on the linkage, and after a lot of patience I got it to snap back into place. That fixed the need to start the vent system from scratch.

What I'd really like is a regular off/on switch for the steering wheel heater.

I'm curious how many people have this issue caused by a dealer service. I only noticed this issue recently. I checked the Toyota Owners website for my vehicle and the previous owner had the filter changed as part of regular maintenance just a month before the vehicle went off lease and I bought it. Returned afterward and complained of the heater defaulting to 75 degrees. Of course, Toyota tested and stated that 'Working as designed by factory. Normal operations'. Really shows just how little many of the Toyota service techs in the US really understand about Land Cruisers. I am going to write a letter to the Toyota USA President of Marketing regarding the lack of appropriate training at dealerships, the resulting damage to customer's vehicles, and would like some kind of numbers to include.
