I replaced my grille today. But that $400 emblem replacement? Nah, **** that, Toyota.

Snip off the 3 posts that the “push washers” are securing. Release the tab on the bottom of the emblem and remove.

Use a soldering iron or other hot pointy thing to create a dimple in the center of the stud to start your pilot hole (I started with 1/16”). Next I drilled a 1/8” hole to match the screws I’m using. Then I filed the studs down to JUST below level with the holes in the grille (so the screws hold the emblem tight).

Before you mount to the grille polish the emblem with a headlight polishing kit.

That’s it.

Looks awesome! What made you want to replace your grill? Do they get worn? You post a bunch of helpful comments and photos. Much appreciated!

The grey painted areas were getting pretty weathered but I had a hard time rationalizing a replacement until the recent Southeast Toyota parts sale.
