Yup, that's what I'm saying. I haven't had time to diagnose the issue (began a month or so ago) but suspect it's the sending unit, as it's affecting both the fuel gauge and the computer.

so little bit of an update but no really.... soo when I started this post I was in the middle of swapping an engine in the truck. Therefore I was obviously not driving it, long story short I buttoned up everything on the truck abs got it running again. I believe I had around 1/2 tank when I got the engine back in abs running. I wasnt paying much attention to fuel or mileage. Then my low fuel light came one. I reset the trip odometer and only went 3.5 mile until I decided to fill up for the week. This is where things get interesting. Mind you needle is at empty, lowgas lights on. I start pumping, then walk around the truck to talk to the wife. I hear the pump stop, go back look $25 and only 12.7 gals. I try to pump morebut maybe got .5 gal and felt it was very full. Get back in and the needle is just barely Below the full mark. Maybe I’m having a similar issue as you.

Hey guys

I did some searching and didn’t really see the answers I was looking for. Recently bought a GX off a friend on mine. I’m getting 200miles per tank, my buddy said that was his normal when have had but just seems like super s***ty mileage. I know the GX didn’t boast about its great gas mileage when stock and I know the extra weight isn’t helping. Just curious to see what others are getting mileage wise fill up to fill up. Also the mods/weight to my truck are;
Demello off-road front bumper
Demello off-road sliders
Full RCI skids
2.5in lift with 34s

I also have a Demello off road front bumper 3' lift with 255/80/17 Cooper ST Maxx 10ply tires, Full RCI metallized skids, RCI rock rails and Metal Tech rear bumper. I pulled the Demello off a couple months ago, it needed paint. My MPG went up 2-3 mpg just by that. my normal with the bumper on was 14-16 depending on my speed, if I was around 60 mph, I could get 18 or so. after the stock bumper was put back on it was 16-18 mpg running at 65mph. my normal range is around 280 miles

awesome man! Thank you for that info probably the most comparable to my truck so far as to how you have yours outfitted. That being said it seems I’m still sort about 80miles to tank. From my last “fill up” where I was at E with the light on and only being able to add 12galons I know something else is up. Saturday I’m going camping/wheeling will have extra gas to see how many Extra gallons I get after the light comes on.

Alright so here’s a real update... Monday I fill my tank, reset my trip and went on about my week. To and from work and picking my daughter up from school, about 25-30 is miles a day and the occasional run to the store and what not throughout the week. Saturday morning set out for Peter’s Mill Run in Woodstock. Va. Leave my home with my tank showing less then a quarter tank. I packed a caddy with extra fuel and set out to see how much I really had. Drove for about 30ish minutes and the gas light comes on. Game on. I rest my trip B meter, at this point trip A is showing 184miles...fast forward on the highway doing 75mph truck finally runs out of fuel. I pull over to the side of the road, trip A reads 283miles, trip B reads 99miles. After my low fuel light came on I was able to drive an extra 99miles! I am not getting 200miles to a tank but 280 to a tank. That 80miles “extra” makes world of a difference. So now, after talking with a fellow GX’er I’m going to be looking into the throttle body spacer and the pedal commander. With those two together I should be able to break 300miles to a tank. Also I need to look into what fuel gauge issue. Hope this helps anyone else

I know it's not polite to tell you "I told you so" but ...

Seriously though, glad you figured out what's going on.

haha I know man. Thanks. Now I actually need to figure out what exactly the problem is. I’m leaning towards a level sender??

Given that this issue affects both the gauge and the computer I'd guess the you're on the right track.

@SirGX - can you elaborate a bit more about the "throttle body spacer and the pedal commander"mod? Thanks in advance.

Yeah, google pedal commander, they are a company that sells a device that connects to the OBD port. The device is basically tricking the throttle. For the spacer look up AFE throttle spacer

Because of your post I started looking into the throttle spacers and I have yet to find actual positive results on the 2uz engine.

so I was talking to a dude who said he got close to 20 extra miles per tank with just that spacer. Not sure why he would lie but you Never know. He was spot on when he told my I should be getting 280miles to a tank with no mods. He said with the spacer and pedal commander (set on eco) he was getting an extra 40miles to a tank

So from what I have seen, there are 2 different things at play with that spacer. One could be adding extra plenum volume after the throttle body by the diameter and thickness of the spacer. Doubtful that does anything. The other is by claiming that the throttle body spacer has ridges on it that make the air turbulent but that also seems doubtful to me. But I urge you to try it and take data before and after. Like 4-5 average fill-ups before and after. I think the forum could benefit from the data that isn't well documented here. If you have positive results such as 20 extra miles per tank, I'd be interested too.

You should be getting 300-350 miles per tank with no mods.

Absolutely, I will let you know results once I get everything

I am getting roughly 230-260 a tank mostly city driving.
Highway driving I squeezed out 300. Averaging 16 maybe highway 13.5 ish city.
Half inch lift front and rear. Stock tire size.

I get almost 350 miles a tank, all stock. Most are highway miles, I drive 120 miles round trip daily. I don't rely on the computer but I've a averaged my mpg between full ups and its usually 16-17 mpg. The computer says my avg is usually about 17 and the miles to empty is usually spot on. I'll be getting 255/75r17 tires next month so I'll see how much that affects the mpg.

by no mods I meant no spacer and no pedal commander. There’s no way anyone’s getting 300+ miles without those with 34s, 2-3in lift, steel front bumper and full armor

That sounds close to the numbers I’m getting
