2009 FJ Changes

Anyone noticed the changes posted for 2009 FJ? I saw that it will have VSC Off Switch as well as Roll sensing of Curtain shield airbag Off Switch. Has anyone had problems with the roll sensor of side curtain airbags? I haven't had the chance of yet to put lift and winch bumper on new truck. So I haven't put the truck at a great pitch or roll state.

I haven't done enough wheeling (wah!!!) to worry about the curtain air bags but I have had VSC kick in a couple of times in the snow (my wife and I live in Denver) and, frankly, I'd LOVE to have a button to turn it off. I'd turn it off then disable the button. Drivin' along, going around a turn at a whopping 5mph then it starts beeping at me and my FJ starts jitterring. This and the roof rack are my only complaints with my FJ. :-\

I got this off the Manual section on the Toyota site. I also emailed them asking if this would be available as an upgradable item to us prior owners. I.E. - is this software based or would components needs to be changed. Hopefully I will get some response on this, will post if I do. What is your issue with the roof rack, only problem I have is that I have less that an inch to spare when pulling into carport, pretty sure I won't be parking under it any more after the lift.

My wife, son (15 months old), and dog go camping every now and then and we stay in a tent. You can imagine all the cra--er--stuff we have to bring yet keep room for the dog in the back (on my handy dandy cargo drawer : - ). I always find myself putting a lot of items on the roof towards the front -- I really don't like that. It's on my wishlist to get the ARB roof rack. I've seen some of the other after market racks and I just think that one would suit us better than the Toyota rack (which reminds me -- anyone wanna buy a slightly used Toyota FJ Cruiser roof rack?). That's my two cents -- of course, if you offered me a penny for my thoughts, you'd have change coming.

You will love the ARB rack. Check into the roof tent also! I love it. You will be the center of attention...and its like camping in a tree!!

Is now a good time to mention I'm 6'7"? From what I understand about those roof-top tents, my feet would have to hang out the side.

Toyota to Offer Gentex Rear Camera Display Mirror on the 2009 FJ Cruiser

The display disappears when the vehicle is shifted into any other gear.
Auto-dimming mirrors darken automatically to eliminate glare from the headlamps of vehicles approaching from the rear for improved nighttime driving.

yep a very bad experience , I went over a bump at about 80 km /h and boom the side curtain airbags popped out of the passengers side , wracked my brand new 2009 FJ cruisers roof , dealer says not covered by warranty ??, will cost about 2500$ for repair .

Damn, that is total BS. Have you tried other dealers or contacting the owner of the dealership? Maybe you can get some better customer service.

The fact that Toyota now allows you to turn of the side-curtain airbags is evidence that they have problems with those sensors...

Curious to know if the 2009 4runner has the same feature.....?

Very odd, as I have owned wheeled and wheeled with many folks with side airbags and have yet to hear of it popping for no reason.
