I was at a local Toyota dealership on an unrelated task (parts for my daughter's Highlander). Anyways, I wondered over to the service department out of curiosity. The rep told, with the age (2008) and mileage (261k), he said they wouldn't even touch a head gasket repair. Too much risk for them, in case they missed something. The other surprising thing I found out was the price/hr for labor there, $265 ($5850..just in labor! 22 hr job). I don't usually go to a dealership, now I really know why. He also said they would have recommended to replace the motor with a used version. He said I would be better off going to another shop and a remanned engine with a warranty was much better than they could do.
