Good morning Mud!

In another thread I recently talked a bit about changing the stock headlights with some OEM housings retrofitted with projectors. I think they look great, but as I was trying to adjust them so they would actually...you know....work properly as headlights, I ran into a bit of a problem. While adjusting the passenger one upwards it seems I may have exceeded the threading on the adjust bolt (2008 only has one "up/down" screw). Now I can't get the bolt to bite in the housing again and you can imagine this sucks pretty hard. Does anyone have any advice on how to get the adjustment bolt rethreaded in the housing? Appreciate any assistance, and as always thank you!

Tried to put some pressure rearward on the low beam lens while turning, but couldn't get it to bite any better. Any other suggestions? Really a bummer as the new headlights are retrofitted with projectors and now I have a saggy right eye. 🤪

This happened to me on my 2016, I had to buy one for like $1000 and went to my dealer to get installed and aimed. As they were aiming it, belive it or not, they screwed it up as well and the dealer had to pony up and buy a new one as well!
I still have the original one and have been wanting to fix it. Turns out it may be possible but it’s quite a chore.

After watching one of the Eric Sarjeant Land Cruiser videos he made mention of a Company in New Jersey that darkens out headlights and I figured I would reach out and ask for help. They sent me this... I belive this helps get to the screws to reseat them

Thanks @jefo13 for sharing the video. That makes a ton of sense, and I was a bit afraid it would come to something along these lines. Looks like I have quite the chore ahead. Appreciate you sharing. I may attempt a few more things before I resort to full tear down (though I doubt I will be successful).

Maybe try with a super strong earth magnet?
