With much help from reading all the "new headunit" threads here on Mud, I installed a T'eyes unit about six months ago and overall I'm really happy with it. The one thing that is still bugging me is the climate control feature. The built in T'eyes interface lacks full control of what used to be the OEM hard climate buttons. I've also installed and tried using the climate 100 app created by @cryptyk which I'd love to use but some buttons and functions don't work correctly on my 06 LC.

I know he is not able to put any time into more dev on the app, and so I'm wondering if anyone has found a better solution for climate control after replacing the head unit with an android screen? Or has anyone installed a different android screen that solves the various Teyes issues?

Thanks!

What bits are you still struggling with on the HVAC screen? I'm curious on alternatives too. It gets the job done for me for most things (I typically just run it on AUTO). One thing I could never figure out was how to get it to control my rear HVAC fans/temps. For now I just set the temps using the third row physical controls and then toggle with the remaining Rear button on the dash.

Hiya - I can try to find some time next weekend to work on this. Can ya'll help me out and let me know what exactly isn't working and what you're seeing?
For the rear controls, I don't think the original screen controlled those either. I think it was just the physical "Rear" button under the OEM screen. If that's not the case, let me know.

Please be as detailed as possible in terms of what's not working. It's really hard for me to fix "it's not working", but I have a good chance at fixing "In my 03 LC100, when I push fan up, it actually does fan down."

Awesome! I'll go sit in the truck and write some notes up and reply here. Thanks!

I created a short video of version 1.01 running on my 2006 LC100 with the Teyes unit. I thought that would be the easiest way to show the issue. Basically the buttons seem to execute the correct action but the button value doesn't change to reflect the action. For example, the temp up/down buttons don't increment/decrement the number but the setting is changing. I can tell because switching to the teyes vehicle view does show the temp set has changed. Same for the fan speed - speed changes but value shown does not. Not sure about the other buttons - are their icons meant to change?

If you do get a chance to work on this, thanks! And let me know what I can do to help.

Yes, rear hvac controls are ceiling mounted only. Only the one button on the dash turns it on/off.

Cryptyk, if you fix this I’ll send you a little tip for your time.

Awesome thanks for confirming for me - couldn't decipher if I was just "inheriting" a feature that didn't exist thanks to the Teye's layout. Makes sense!

heya - Can you try this version of the app? It still won't work, but it's capturing some data in the background.
Install it, launch it, then tap the defrost button EXACTLY 5 times with a slight pause between each tap. Kill the app (the circle button at the top of the screen, then swipe it up to kill it)

Then if you can send me the /Download/output.txt file, I will see if I can figure out what's going on.

Thanks!

Will do! Will run it asap, probably tomorrow pm.

Thank you!

After clicking to install, I just get a message saying app not installed.
I ran Climate 100 anyway, and pressed defrost 5 times, but I did not see an output file in the download folder.

User error??

Ah, you need to uninstall the old one first

Thanks! You can edit your post down - I have the content now.

I think I know the problem. It looks like the new teyes are shipping with new Canbus boxes. I don't have access to those, so we'll have to do this the hard way :(

Can you do the following?
1. Make sure the climate app isn't running (kill it by tapping square, then swiping up on it).
2. Delete the output.txt file
3. Run the climate app (the debug version I posted)
4. Tap each of the buttons exactly five times as before, with a slight delay between taps. The way you did it last time was perfect.
5. Tap the buttons in this order (five times on each before moving to the next one):
a) Temp up
b) Auto
c) Temp down
d) Vent
e) defrost
f) a/c
g) recirc
h) fan up + fan down + fan off(these should be pushed in sequence, repeated five times: up, down, off, up, down, off, ...)

Send me that file and I should be able to get it working for ya!

Following. For reference...maybe helpful...but here is the latest Canbus box. Unit purchased less than 3 wks ago. Pic taken 3 mins ago during a live install at our shop (today) on '07 LX470.

OK, I can do that.
I do have a question about the fan up/down sequence. Should I start with the fan speed at 1 prior to opening your app? That way when I press down twice the fan turns off.

When you set it up, are you choosing lc100 -

The sequence would be
+/+/-
+/+/-
+/+/-
+/+/-
+/+/-
correct?
Sorry - I had a typo in my post!

+/-/off
+/-/off
+/-/off
+/-/off
+/-/off

(I had +/-/- in my post - my bad. I fixed it!)

Yes 100%. P.S. There is a low and high setting too, but we havent yet figured out what that is for. Leaving it on high per the instructions.
My guess it that for big-endian vs. little-endian bit ordering (also known as high-order or low-order).

Nerding out for a sec, but if the canbus box puts the following on the network:
10001000

In high-order, that number is 136 (the first 1 is worth 128 and the second is worth 8). In low-order, the number is 17 (the first 1 is worth 1 and the second is worth 16).

output file uploaded. It's possible I didn't press the buttons 100% correct. Let me know if it doesn't look right and I can redo it real quick.

cryptyk, I'm sure you have more important things going on, but I didn't want this thread to disappear. Just keep us posted please.
