My daughter, who lives in Las Vegas, is looking at buying a 2000 Landcruiser with 46,000 miles. ($19,000) I think. She asked me if I Knew of any problems with that year, or had any comments about it. She also wanted to know what type of a mild lift would be good. I would appreciate any and all feedback from you gentlemen. Thanks a bunch, Mark

The 2000 UZJ100 may or may not have the front differential problem fixed, they are known to fail if you shock load them. IIRC the jury is still out on weather or not Toyota made a design change to correct the problem. I blew mine out by Austin. The accepted solution is to install an ARB and not look back. The up side is you wind up with a triple locked rig since the 100's came from the factory with a center diff lock and a rear locker.
In general there is about one option for a lift, OME. It comes in three versions light, medium and heavy. Installation consist of replacing the shocks and rear springs and re-indexing the front torsion bars. Between the info on the 100 series forum and the FSM a
mechanic like me could do it in a day. I have the medium lift which stiffens the ride a bit but keeps the butt from sagging when the truck is loaded for camping. I can stuff 33's with no problem, bigger tires than that and you would need to re-gear and the whole lift thing starts getting into custom fabrication.
