I'm so aggravated, this is gonna be short. The Chebby was gonna be my DD while Adelaide got restored. I'm starting to think I got bad juju.

Motor won't catch. Starter kicks in like a champeen, cranks real strong, takes a couple turns on gas, then dies. Used to just be when it was hot, now it's all the time. It was throwing a coupla EGR codes, so I checked all wires and connections, cleaned everything up, and replaced the EGR valve. No change. Still throwing codes. Next up, once I get home from work, is a fuel pressure check, but I can hear the sender running when the ignition is on so I don't expect to find much.

Thoughts?

What where the results of the fuel pressure check?
While cranking the engine, have you pulled one of the plug wires to check for consistant spark?
Does this truck have the factory anti-theft system, and is the anti-theft light on?

Still trying to find a Schrader valve connector for the pressure check.

Good spark in all eight.

No anti-theft system on this truck.

I can't think of any way that anything involved with the EGR valve would keep it from starting. If you can hear the fuel pump humming, then you know it's getting power. I suppose you're down to,
1. fuel pressure too low(regulator? faulty pump?)
2. crank or cam position sensor?
If you are getting spark, and adequate fuel pressure, then I would suspect your timing is thrown off by a bad sensor. It would be unusual for the crank or cam position senor to go bad without throwing a code, but it's not unprecedented. I saw it a couple of times while I was imprisoned at a parts store. It seems like emissions-related things trip the check engine light without fail, but every once in a while, a sensor would fail and not throw any codes.
