I am wondering if this idea would work?

I don't want to install permanent ARB style drawers as I am not a hardcore expedition overlander. However, I do want to be able to sleep in the back of the 200 series with son and dog for some weekends.

I was thinking of buying two portable heavy duty boxes like this?
Husky 35 in. Mobile Job Box-222167 - The Home Depot
Dimensions are 35" 22.5" x 13.5".
Hence, the sleeping platform would sit on top of the 13.5" boxes.
Then, I can lay a 3/4" plywood (with hinge) on top of this.

I have removed the third row seats, so the more difficult issue is how to stabilize the platform over the folded second row (which I measure is 12" and not 13.5" from the floor.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps this would be too wobbly to sleep on?

I don't have a 200 series but the 100 is fairly similar. Your idea will work, just need to find the right boxes. I went to local HD and bought a bunch of different totes to see how it would all fit in. Surprise, surprise, the cheapest yellow-top ones are the most robust and exactly the same height as the folded 2nd row. I made a 78" long birch plywood platform. To prevent slippage I just use drawer liner between the seats and the platform. Also a folded blanket under the platform makes for a spacer.

It is all very ghetto but it works really well.

EDIT: These are the totes I used: HDX 17 Gal. Storage Tote in Black-HDX17GONLINE(6) - The Home Depot
