I'm having an issue with the climate control system in my 2008 LC200 and some Google research seems to point to a multi-function display (MFD) module failure. The 200 has been in storage for the past few months and the only thing that didn't seem to be working correctly when I started it was the climate control system. When you push the 'climate' button, it shows the attached screen shot. I ran the MFD system diagnostics and there were some error codes, but all of them were several years old. Once I cleared the codes, everything checked out. The climate system is the only thing not working (note the outside temp isn't showing either)...all the radio, nav, and display functions seem to be working okay. The center display on the dash seems to be working okay, too.
This looks like a previous issue with earlier Prius models and the 100-series. This is the first I've heard of or seen an apparent MFD failure on a 200-series. The web indicates this is a pricey repair from Toyota ($3-4K), although it looks like there are a few companies out there that can diagnose and possibly repair the fault for ~$400.
So, the big questions is: Has anyone else experienced this issue and fixed it? If so, how did you go about doing so.
Thanks!
John
