Morning all,
Great Forum. Plenty of knowledge on here. Anyone replaced the indicator stalk on a 2011 200 series cruiser. I cant get the air bag off and dont want to break anything. I believe there are a couple of pins to release? Thanks

Remove the little covers that surround the headlight and the wiper stalks. There will be one shiny torx head screw on each side. You need to loosen those on both sides and then you can wiggle the airbag off, it doesn’t take much force. If it doesn’t want to come off easily, get a magnet and try to pull those screws a little further out. They don’t need to come out all the way.

Once you get there, you can remove the spiral cable and steering wheel and you will see the windshield wiper switch assembly. If I remember correctly, this has to be removed first before you can get to the headlight dimmer switch assembly.

A word of warning, removing the switches requires that you get a tiny flathead screwdriver or pick and pry the tiny plastic claws that are holding it in. With the age of those plastics, I would go in there with the expectation that at least one will break.

Make sure you disconnect your battery for a while before removing the airbag. Mark your steering wheel with a marker so you remember to put it back and make sure the wheel is straight and you keep the clock spring in the same position when you put it back.

Removing the Toyota wiper stalk usually requires you to use needlenose pliers to release the clamp and push back a clip that holds them on. Doable by yourself, but much easier with an extra hand to pull.

The wiper and turn stalk can then be separated, the new one installed with the other stalk and installed.
