First post here guys. I've been looking for a 16+ LC for a bit now. As you know, options are limited.

I had a deposite down on what I thought was the one. 2016 with 65k miles, perfect service at dealer, new tires, brakes ect. Had the price at 55.5k. Drove 250 miles to pick it up, opened the door and obviously a heavy smoker owned the truck. That's a no go for me and very frustrating. (Who smokes in an 85k truck I dont get it)

I am looking for 16+ lower miles better and 60k budget.

Do I just keep patient, or should I just convince my wife we should just buy new. I am planning on keeping for 10+ years and knowing it was taken care of well from the beginning is important to me.

I thought i had found the perfect rig, paid $500 to ship it to houston, but then my wife immediately smelled smoke (and then proceeded to investigate every nook/cranny and found ashes). I ended up losing $1k on that rig after paying to ship it back. Thought about suing the dealer for false advertising, but never did.

Keep looking, you'll find something (but keep acting fast!)

A lot of car detailing shops and even flood and smoke damage restoration companies can help get the smell out. If you really like the vehicle call your local detailing or smoke damage restoration company and talk to them about it. Like Servpro or something. Use the smoke damage as a bargaining chip to get the price down when you buy it.

The dealer had a specialist (so they say) come out and treat it. I also have small kids and am concerned with 3rd hand smoke. I don't think the dealer would come down more on price, they acted like it's normal to smoke in cars and didn't really care I had just driven 250 miles.

How long have you been seriously looking? It took about a year and a half for me to find exactly what I was looking for. They are out there though.

The device they use is an Ozone machine. We got one for under $100 off Amazon after a bunch of kids stole my wife's X3 and hotboxed it all night. Reeked of weed so bad that you could smell it 10ft away. It took two 3hr treatments and it was good as new.

I would not even think about a pre owned vehicle from a smoker. To me its like rust, it will come back to haunt you. Every time it rains and the humidity goes up, there could be a smell of a wet ash tray. That depends on you or your passengers sense of smell of course. Pass or "Run away, run away!"

This was our exact reason. I didn't even know about 3rd hand smoke, and my wife convinced me that no amount of ozone/treating/shampooing would clean out all 83 air vents 😂

Ended up finding a newer model for the same price, one owner that was a 60yo female executive. Never saw dirt, but had 2 minor fender benders but didn't care since I always knew I wanted bumpers.

100% agree. It would bother and never feel good about it

How about a 16 with 45k miles listed at 63k. Clean service record. Good price to start with?

I bought my '15 Lx with 55k for $40k

If I remember correctly, at the time, every 10k miles seemed to be worth $1k.

I rarely see a LC ever listed used. I felt lucky just to find a LX nearby that was decent.

Not bad but not a screaming deal either. Unfortunately it's not exactly a buyers market for these things with such a low supply.

As a reference, I just got my 18 w/ 33k for $67.8. Would have loved to get a bargain but I don’t believe they can be had. This thing feels brand new and I’m sure this one you found will as well.

Are you looking for a stock LC or more of an overland ready vehicle? I have considered moving to something smaller for just me as our family has had some priority changes and we aren’t utilizing it as originally planned.
Looking for a stock vehicle.

Put a deposit down on the one mentioned above at effectively 59.9k. It's perfect condition and feels new.

I tried unsuccessfully several times to pick up an LC. Eventually I realized the LX is cheaper!?, has more features, and is a lot easier to find. So I picked up an LX. My only regret is not having the patience to wait for a red one to come up for sale.
