Ive been planning on swapping a 1uz since i got my 94 4runner v6. I got most the info i need. I have a 92 ls400 complete car lined up so i shoiuld have everything but looking into transmission options. Ive found alot of info on it but have some questions.

1) lextreme no longer does swap kits? 2)who does 3) can i use the auto trans from ls and bolt the tranfer case to it? i found a post on lextreme that mentioned something along those lines but not sure of details.
4) lextreme mentioned an issue with ecu's not reving past 2800 on 92's. any updated info on this?

Id like to use the manual trans but im gonna have to save for a while for the adapter plate and clutch to work with that so if i can just drop the whole drive train in.
oh and any details on swapping the fuel pumps?

has anyone ever tried swapping a interior from an ls into a 4runner? lol

Lot's of possibilities, but all are extensive.

The A341E auto came in both configurations. The W58 manual came in both configurations.

You've sort of got the wrong 4Runner and/or wrong sedan to start with. Still possible but a lot of extra work.

For manual:

1uz - w58 bellhousing.
W58 from a 4cyl 4Runner.
Transfer case from a 4cyl 4runner.
Driveshafts, mounts, all the extras...

For auto:

1UZ A341E auto with a A340E auto tail assembly and transfer case from an auto 4Runner.
Driveshafts, mounts, all the extras...

Don't quote me one this:

I feel like a 1UZ came with an R154 transmission in some cars. If this is true you could use a 1UZ/R154 bell housing on to your V6 4Runner's R150f transmission. (Best option so you can retain your 4Runners manual trans/tcase)

Your LS has an A340E.
Your 4Runner has an R150f.
You need a lot of parts.

I don't mean to discourage you, but this is a large undertaking. Do some research on the 1UZ, A340E, W58, R154, R150f.

right on, thank you. I did not know i had r150f. i thought it was w56 or w58. r150 should be much better no? I know the r154 is much more capable. I usually mess with 2jz's in cars so the compatablility options on the trucks is something i havent got down yet.

i was hoping I had a cheap option to trans mounting but worst case scenerio i can just get a custom clutch and flywheel and an adapter. I can just a bell housing no?

Any info on the issue lextreme was hasving with the 92 ecus?

Yeah, your 4Runner is V6 4x4 5spd right? Then it is an R150f.

The R series trans would be the best. W series ain't too bad but they can't take a real beating.

By chance, were you able to find out if any 1UZ sedans came with an R154?
- If they do, I would try and source a 1UZ/R154 bell housing. There may be some input shaft modifications required.

Again, lots of options but all are either extensive, or expensive, or both.

Regarding custom clutches and bell housings etc...

Personally I would try everything to have an R series behind that V8.

If not, I would sell my R150f/VF1A, and gather all of the 4cyl 4Runner W58 trans/case.

If not that, then next, I would use your A340E auto 'bell housing' and flex plate, purchase a button-on flywheel, triple disk, and dogbox trans with a divorced transfer case.

Last choice, I would sell your R150f/VF1A and source all of the auto 4Runner parts and have an auto.

(As you can tell, I have no interest in autos hahaha)

Smoke clearing at all?

yeah, now that i have a r150f instead of a w58 ive been able to find more posts on this subject. I found an adapter kit for 1k that comes with adapter to bearing and custom flywheel which looks like i can reuse my oem clutch.

I also found a build a guy did that he bought a bellhousing made for it and then had the flywheel machined. Ill have to look into it more but that moves the flywheel about a 1/4 inch so might just get a longer shaft for slave cylinder and pissibly have to do something with to bearing.

I am partial to manual as well. lol.

Good stuff.

The extra input shaft length can be gained with a Jeep AX-15 shaft. Or potentially a late model R150f input shaft from a 5VZ Tacoma may be long enough as well.

I used a Jeep shaft to make a 1JZ bolt up to an R150f. I had to use a dodge clutch disk, but used a jza70 pressure plate and flywheel.

If you can get away with the tacoma shaft I would go that route, it has the same number of teeth on the end so you could use a toyota clutch disk and pilot bearing.
