1st Gen Backspacing SAS v IFS

Am I right in saying that because of the different axles/backspacing of solid 1st gens v ifs 1st gens that a 10.5 width tyre would protrude beyond the wheel well in an ifs but not on a solid.

Reason I ask is that I notice the early 1st gens can take a 10.5 whereas my 88 truck has arches to compensate for the extra width.

toyota ifs wheels have 4.75" of backspace

toyota solid axle wheels have 3-3/8 inch backspace

but the solid axle front and rear axles are shorter than ifs axles

so if you have a ifs truck with solid axle wheels they will stick out further
