1kzte starting question

96 prado with 1kzte. Doesn’t start easy takes like 3 turns of the key. I live in Florida so cold is not the issue.
Are there glow plugs in these motors or just injectors? Is there a light on the dash for the glow plugs ? I have about 140,000 miles not sure if anything was ever done and it runs great when it starts no smoke and I’ve changed the filter and have checks for air leaks.

there is a glow system on it for sure. just to the right of the steering wheel is the glow plug light/icon but only comes on for half a second. But like you said, wouldnt even need it in Florida.

I'm here in California and for what its worth, my 95 kzj78 also needs a few cranks to start. My other 70 series has a 13bt and that motor starts with have a key turn.

Yes there are glow plugs but unless it's cold outside you shouldn't need them. Your location is on Maui so unless you're at the top of the volcano that shouldn't be it. With a new filter and no air leaks you may need your injectors cleaned or replaced.

I have a 1995 KZJ78 with a 1KZTE that is having issue starting right away. What I mean is you sometimes (it is inconsistent) have to crank the ignition and pump on the gas a bit to get it to start. Generally longest time it takes is about is about 30 seconds.

thinking there is a small leak in fuel line or air in pump restricting fuel flow.

But seeing if anyone has had similar experience
