Hi Guys . My 1HZ is abit low on compression severe on a few cylinders and was wondering if I can do a inchassis rebuild .

Waste of time IMO. If the compression is low, it really needs to be honed out to the next oversize. I seen to many of those in situ rebuilds go bad to trust one.
If the heads good you might get away with a short motor rebuild
There is nothing to stop you doing it and I guess you will see then if the bores need work.

Thanks Rossco. I did replace the head a year ago with a new Jap one and the hone marks were still in the bores. The Lady I bought this off was a little bit of an under acheiver when it comes to revving the engine. So I stuck a heap of engine cleaner and deglazzer products in her. It appears to have worn rings .It has only done 360000klms.

360 is not a lot and shouldn't be losing compression. What were the compression figures? I would also be thinking about the crank and big end bearings.
