Currently assembling 1HDT timing gear, and have run into a small snag. The FSM says that the torque on the idler gear thrust plate bolts (idler gear thrust plate to engine block) is 50ftlbs. My bolts stretch anywhere past 43ftlbs. I found another torque spec from another FSM that shows the same bolt at 29ftlbs. Anyone ever run into this? If so, what torque did you end up using? Thinking about running the lower one and just putting some blue loctite on it. Thanks!

yes its wrong, i ran into this years ago. off the top of my head its 45 nm.

can confirm in the morning as its permanent marker penned on one of the walls of my workshop...

Don't have any input on the torque specs themselves, but I'd choose the orange thread locker over blue. It's higher strength and better with vibrations but still removable.

Disagree, Loctite 243 is the correct product here. I've never had issues with it backing out, and the oil resistance is what you want.
