So, I'm putting a dumbed down 1HDT, 12valve into a BJ73. It's been fully rebuilt. ACSD removed and blanked off.
The turbo is all plumbed in with it's water and oil feeds. There are a few holes/ports in the block and head I can see, but having a bit of trouble identifying them after scrolling through multiple manuals and online resources. Some may be redundant now because the ACSD has been removed.

So can anyone help label the holes/ports/sensors for me. I've marked in RED what I know so far, and put a ? for the unknowns.

Perfecto, thanks for that.

Is #5 an oil or water temp detect? Being in the oil cooler, would suggest it being oil temp?

I have a couple of extra gauges I wanted to plumbing in, so just wondering if I could use any of those (now redundant) ports.

Looking for oil temp and water pressure locations.

#5 is a water temperature detect. You could use that as is for a water temp external of the dash gauge.

Or you could use a different water neck with a factory hole: 16603-17020 which would accept a water temp gauge.

Oil temp would be best to be run off of a T at the oil pressure sender.

1hdt vacuum pump is mounted to the front of the timing case and is driven by the crank gear/timing gears. It's oiled via the timing case not externally
Actually it has an external oil feed pipe which passes through the pump and exits into the timing case.

Another follow-up question on this, as I'm looking at some new sensors for the Haltech IC7.

Do you know the thread sizes for each?
  • Oil pressure sender
  • Water temp gauge for gauge in dash: 83420-20020
  • Temperature detect switch: not needed (for ATM)

Why don’t you just remove them and measure them?

Unfortunately I don't have a gauge to measure them. I also don't have the water temp sender, as the motor didn't come with one.
I'll try an alternative trial and error route with the local fastening store.

the oil is 1/8 bspt

OK, found the details....

Water is an M16 x 1.5
Oil is as stated above, 1/8 BSP

Interesting is that BSP is also sometimes referred to as GAS.
1/8" GAS (BSP) and 1/8" NPT are incompatible thread standards. NPT (American) is tapered with a 60° angle, while GAS/BSP (British) is typically parallel with a 55° angle and rounded crests/roots.

My solution was to lookup the specific vehicle on the Tridon datasheet. find the part number, look it up and BINGO, the thread details.....
