I’ve got a brand new OEM 1HD-T head/short block that I am getting ready to assemble. All of the parts are Toyota. Wondering if I need to lap the brand new valves in? I’ve heard that the valves have a special coating on them to resist carbon buildup and lapping may remove it, I’ve also heard the opposite. At minimum I may just check them for a good fit. If I don’t have to mess with OEM specs/coating I’d rather not, but also don’t want to get down the road and realize I’ve got a leaky valve. Thanks!
