Good afternoon all, would anyone possibly know the size of the valve cover bolts for the 1HD-FT?

I adjusted my valves today, and opening it up I discovered that someone previously had sheared off a bolt (front right corner) and glued the head in place with RVT.

After adjusting valves, I tried torquing at 4 ft lbs (safe conversion from FSM torque spec) and sheared off the first bolt I tried. I set the rest in place with a ratchet, medium force until resisting, then snugged up (no issues on the rest).

I now have two bolts missing and need to extract the shafts. Does anyone know the approximate length of the OEM bolts as well as the metric size? I just want to get high grade steel versions at Home Depot until OEM bolts arrive.

Does anyone have experience driving with one or more bolts missing, and whether it will likely go south if I drive it?

Thank you all so much

Take one of your old bolts to the hardware store and get the approximate length flange bolt until your OEM parts show up.

If you drive missing bolts will leak a bit of oil.

You can always drill & retap or go helicoils.

I’m a little late but I replaced all of mine as they are a special bolt, people over torque them and stretch them to fail.. they are cheep and you can order them from partsouq, or other vendors..I bet Kurt at cruiser outfitters has them in stock,

Thank you great advice! That is exactly what I did, I was able to back out one that was sheared off, a second that happened prior to my ownership is still in there

Thank you! Do you have luck with Amayama generally? I haven't used them yet because the multiple sourcing options felt like a broker rather than a vendor
No issues with amayama. I order parts from amayama, partsouq, megazip. Sometimes i try to buy from my local toyota dealership but many parts are 3 times the price of those websites.
I usually plan the work i need to do so i order everything in advance. I takes a good 8-12 days to get something from japan.
