Yesterday, I bought a 1HD-FT engine to swap into my PZJ70.

The engine was kept very badly and on disassembly we found some rust on cylinders 4 and 6. On cursory inspection the bores did not feel pitted but an experienced mechanic insisted that there was pitting and we'd have to rebore the engine block and also suggested fitting BORE LINERS. He also said that honing the bore would probably take it out of spec and apart from the bore rust the innards seems relatively new indicating a low mileage engine. Also it's a Mark 2 block which has not been overbored.

The Toyota manual engine manual recommnends either over reboring or replacing the engine block. It is silent on fitting bore liners.

Does anyone have any experience or information on fitting bore liners on the 1H engine?

Secondly would a R141 hold up to a 1hd-ft?

And lastly, with the wiring and wiring jacks on my PZJ70 be compatible with the 1HD-FT?

Many thanks.

You are looking at alot of modifications, not sure about the wiring harness but most likely it won't work for you. I saw your other post about how much you are paying for the engine - I think you are buying a bad engine that needs a complete rebuild - so you are best to buy from a reputable source or just buy new because you will have that much or more into it when you are done.

Why not just turbo your engine? That's a good engine with a turbo on it.

I would also be paying close attention to the BEB.Cranks can be hard to get.

Ishobie,

I live in Nepal. We don't have a flourishing second hand mkt. in Land Cruiser parts. It's a miracle that I was able to get this engine at all.

Importing turbo kits etc. is not all that easy from here.
