Where can I find more info on the difference betwene the 1zfe long block vs. the short block.

Im wondering what the difference is in HP, torque (if any) and what models or years were each of the blocks found in.

Does one offer an advantage over the other?

thanks,
Ben

They are terms that are used to describe replacement motor parts. A short block is just the block assembly, the long block also includes the head.

Thanks tools!

is this the way all replacememnt blocks are classified?

In other words do the notations long vs. short denote the same thing with Ford or Mopar?

Yes. Its an industry term to denote what "comes with" the block.

Your thinking of the terms "big block and small block" associated with american v8s. The terms long block and short block are associated with how an engine comes packaged new or used. Short block is usually engine block, crank shaft, con rods and pistons. Long block is the before mentioned plus a cylinder head. Some times a long block will also come with oil pan, cams, and valve covers.

Long block and short block has nothing to do with power output
