1998 key programming problems
OAlready posted elsewhere but Im not sure I posted it correctly so here we go again.I HAVE ONE BLACK REMOTE THAT IS THE REMOTE CONTROL VERSION. THIS IS MY ONE AND ONLY KEY.So I wasnt sure if the only key that I had was a master as it would not open the glove box, I have a 98 lc, and a Toyota factory replaced key was around $320. The one I have is the remote kind of key. So anyway, I purchased 2 keys from ebay, one w/ remote functions and one without.I went to program the non-remote key using the instructions in so many threads, (insert working key, accelarator 5x, brake 6x, insert new key, accelerator 1x, wait 60seconds, light goes off , remove key, brake 1x) .After a few attempts I got it programmed and it worked.
Now the remote key however is where the problems are arrising. I managed to get the remote functions programmed, after several attempts.But I still cant get the ECU programmimg to work. Any more ideas. I pressume that the keys are clean and never programmed prior but How can I tell for sure? Is there a differant way to programm master keys, or any suggestions, from anyone with similar experiences. Thanks in advance for the help and for the help Ive already received from the forum, Thomas
