Recently got this truck off BAT pretty sweet but the heater core started leaking. I have dismantled the dash and found the core in rough shape. If any one has done this before what is my next move? do I need to dismantle all of the blower box below the dash? Does the core disconnect under the hood and then pull through the firewall?Any advice will be helpf!

@Honger has some really good info in his thread about the heat/AC system and taking it apart.
Use the "Index" arrows at the top of his post to cycle through pertinent information:

And more here:

Hope that helps you.

Thanks, that second thread shows what I need to get out. Thanks!

And if you need a new heater core I think terrain tamer has a replacement that will work. Not sure if available OEM, but could be.

Still trying to wiggle it out without undoing the a/c side of things to get a part #. Learning a lot about how the HVAC system works, that's the fun part.

I need to do the same thing. thanks for this post!
Partsouq does indeed have the heater core. it's around $325...+tariffs (recently placed a $650 order and got dinged almost $300)

HEY!!!!! I just noticed you are in Edwards! we may have met over the years hmmmm.....I'm just two passes and a tunnel away.

Once out, you might want to bring your current core to a radiator shop and see if they can repair it. I've had great luck with my radiator shop repairing these types of items.

Cheers, James

Found one on YoshiParts should be here in a couple weeks. No tariffs from UAE? It is possible to get out without disconnecting the A/C, but it's a bugger!

There are tariffs from the entire planet.

Fedex bills you after you receive the part.

DHL bills you before you receive the part.

You have a PN for that heater core?

You will get the tariff bill via the carrier either just prior to it departing the country of origin or as soon as it lands in the US. DHL billed me once it arrived on US soil from the UAE and UPS just billed me prior to a shipment departing the EU. As Beno stated, Fedex might bill later but my one data point with them is they billed upon arrival into the US like DHL( I don't have a FEDEX account so maybe that plays into this?). The good news is tariff stacking on automotive parts was stopped over the summer.
