Toyota : Land Cruiser - eBay (item 200591939467 end time Apr-02-11 17:12:59 PDT)

copy and pasted for your convenience . .

1997 Toyota Land Cruiser ( similar to the Lexus Lx 450)
Factory FRONT and REAR lockers.
40th anniversary edition.
V8 engine - 30k mile 4.7L v8 2uz engine from a 2004 tundra.
Runs great, lots of extra power ..... AND it gets better gas mileage.

Truck was built as a family vacation rig. Unfortunately, our vacations have been canceled and there is no reason to keep the 4th vehicle.

new front axle seals
new wheel bearing
new brakes
new parking brakes and assemblies
new stainless exhaust
new driveshaft joints
new OLD MAN EMU 1" lift springs
new Nitro shocks
new wood grain

The V8 conversion:
I picked up a 30k mile 2uz 4.7L V8 engine out of a wrecked 04 Tundra. I converted all the electronics to a 2001 Tundra (this eliminated the need for drive by wire.) Truck utilizes the factory v8 headers / cats. (Emissions and OBD-II compliant.) Diagnostic port is hooked up and throws NO codes. Cruise works great. Tach works like it should. Everything is done EXCEPT for an oil pressure sender and an A/c fitting. A/C is installed and wired, however, there is no local shop to crimp the metric high pressure hose.

The truck:
Overall its in good shape. Not a pile, not a show truck.... but very respectable. Its not a sports car or highway rocket, but it certainly can haul and climb just about anything. Clean carfax showing no wrecks. However, I did notice the front was hit and repainted at some time. When I bought the truck, there was some rust above the windshield (on the roof). I had the windshild removed, had the rust fixed, paint didnt match perfect, but now there is no rust. Body has a few blemishes, but it is very respectable. Power windows have been fixed, they now operate quickly. Rear right flair was painted and the color does not match very well.

I love what you've done here, very cool.

However for someone like myself who doesn't even do an oil change without Jiffy Lube, this might be overwhelming correct? It seems like this may always require a little tweaking to keep all the different parts happy. Perhaps this vehicle is best for someone who can do all their own maintenance and repair?

No. No "tweaking" to keep parts happy. It was built to as a "hop in and drive" vacation rig. Any mechanic can just plug their computer into the obdII port and see everything. (I even used the stock obd port. ) However, you might want to tell the jiffy lube guys that its an 01 tundra oil filter though. :p

cheers, Jason

Congrats on the purchase!!!!

I can see why...

...your little boy felt that way, heck, I'd cry if someone I didn't know came and took her out of my driveway. It really is a great truck and a very satisfying driving experience.

Perhaps we will cross paths on the track some day, although I am certain your M series will dust my little old 911.

Thanks again, Jason.

Cheers!! :steer:
