Experiencing something odd with my 94 80 series. Sometimes after a stop it feels like it’s trying to start out of second, very low power. Then it eventually revs high and seems to kick into proper gear. Anyone deal with this and what it could be? The transmissions on these rarely have issues so I’m looking to try other options before going to that.

Is it idling really high with the ac on?

My 93 was doing something similar when I bought it, there was a broken vacuum line on the throttle body causing the idle issue, which seemed to have caused it.

Also... Sorry to state the obvious, but my cruiser has a "2nd" button next to the shifter. Make sure it isn't pressed!

I sure wish it was that!! It doesn’t do it every time. I think it must be a connector somewhere seemed to do it after the past two rains..

I've experienced a similar condition, the truck seems to start in 2nd gear, but in my case only after starting the truck cold, and only rarely- haven't seen it this summer at all. The problem goes away if I manually shift into 1st, and then up when the truck is rolling. I only have to do that once, then it shifts normally on its own, and I don't experience the problem again for days or weeks. I believe it has something to do with the transmission solenoids. It's a minor annoyance, so I haven't bothered looking further into it.
