My friend has a 1990 22re its not getting gas to the injectors what are some steps to gas to them and the gas is 5 yeas old he's concerned about water in the tank should he drain it? has it turned to varnish? what does the muddies say?

drain the tank. there is a plug.
if the toxic sludge in the tank was less than 1/4 full the pump is rusted and needs to be replaced.
dont try and get any more fuel up into that poor engine.

im sorry im just amazed you didnt do any of that first seems like a no brainer.
once you do finally go on to the next step,
you can turn the ignition on and push the AFM door open and it will kick on the pump.
also replace the fuel filter. filters are on sale for super cheap at NAPA thru tomorrow.
