There is a bare wire from the back of the cigarette lighter fuse box that exits the main wire loom behind the stereo under the dash. It has keyed power. Is the fact that it's bare normal? Shouldn't this wire have sheathing?
Discovered this as I was starting to install an after market stereo head unit. The truck never had a stereo in it when I bought it. Looks like someone attempted to redo the speaker wiring and went in the main loom behind where the factory stereo would be. I peeled back the sheathing on the loom and this wire is bare as far back as I can see.
Any insight would be much appreciated and yes, I tried the search function.
