Another long story behind this one guys but I will spare you most of it.

The Good

This truck is a legal import from Canada with a clean title.

The 2H diesel was professionally rebuilt by a local diesel guru. I have all the reciepts. Over $4500 spent. Less than 3k miles since rebuild. It runs good.

The truck is complete and can be driven anywhere.

The interior is decent to good shape.

The Bad

The body is rusty. Its not gone yet but I don't feel like restoring it.

Alternator went bad but Its currently being rebuilt.

Needs glow plugs rewired.

AC needs a charge.

The Ugly

The frame is very rusty and rusted thru in several spots in the rear. You could conitnue to patch it but is not worth it to me. It is still structurally sound. I

It is driveable in its current state but if you buy it you should make plans to find a donor rig to swap the driveline into.

I'm taking offers for the next few weeks and the highest bidder will get it. I'd like to have the transaction complete by Feb 17th.

Please pm or email all offers. mattsoriente@hotmail.com

I'm lookng for $5k obo.

Got the email you sent of your 47...nice looking rig. If you ever make it up to the outer banks stop by for a beer and shoot the s***.

I have a couple other ones and I'm planning on building at least one more. If I can find a decent donor 60/62 I will most likely keep the truck and make one good truck out of two.

For the record, that one sold to a dealer in Atlanta for $4600 :)

Is there anything wrong with that? I have bought several rigs from guys on the board, dozens more outside of the board...For what its worth, I'm a true Cruiser-head and have personally owned 40's-100's...They are the ultimate vehicle, and there is a demand for LC's of all series here in Asheville, just no supply.

I also bought and sold 40+ 2007'-08' FJ Cruisers from June-October of 09' and sold them at dealer only auctions...the books (Kelley Blue Book was too low, dealer Black Book too high) was just wrong on them...Bought them as far as Colorado, Texas, Missouri, etc all from private party individuals...Thats right, bought them from Joe Blow and sold them in minutes to dealers for $2200 net per car.

Heck, the way I see it, I'm helping your resale values...lol

I'm all for making a profit. It is what America is all about. It just really SUCKS for all of our local memebers that go as far as having Craigslist send them updates to their phone when the word land cruiser is posted within the state of NC and it is gone before they get there and or call within the hour. I think that is the real problem that they are out there trying to continue their hobby and instead they are competeing against a proffessional that has not particiapted in our group events and in our minds is not adding to the community as we have yet to see any new members from someone you have sold a rig to.

Also I test drove one of the 80's you sold a couple months back and when I drove it the undercarriage was covered in a rust. 3 days later after he sold it to you the undercarriage looked nice and black in your pictures...was it disclosed to the buyer....I don't know but would like to hear about it.

Again all for a profit and I'm glad the demand is out there. I could only dream of getting to work on and sell land cruisers all day. Just sucks for the guy with a job and a true interest in the hobby that can't get to them before you do. Sure they can buy it but from you at 4 times the price it was at the day before.

This thread is full of teh funny.

I know I got burned on CL by driving to see something only to have it disappear before I got there and then show up again at twice the price. ;)

I wonder if he got that diesel 40 that was in shelby

Good discussion guys...First allow me to address the 80 with some rust...It sold to a dealer out of Myrtle Beach for $800 less than I had in it (after EGR, O2 sensors, detail, etc)...While it is generally our policy to pass on FJ's with rust issues, EVERYTHING has a number. If someone asks, I tell them...I'm not hiding anything...Do I detail the cars and try to freshen them up? Of course.

I would also dispute the notion that I am not bringing new "crusiers" to the community...I dont actively push selling cars on the board, as the members here realize what they are worth...100% (to my knowledge) of the vehicles I have sold are either to other dealers or people outside this community...Every single day I hear "Wow...these things are cool...what can you tell me about them?"

Every newbie that buys a LC from me also is told about this site...I recommend them to come hear to ask questions, search for parts, find mechanics in their area, and just use it as a "virtual Haynes Manual" if you will...In short, I am helping build the community, not hurt it...Not to mention, I have bought many of the cars listed on MUD from its members at prices the SELLER agrees to...I don't make anyone sell me their LC...But I do however have several hundred thousands of dollars, 2 car haulers and manpower at my expense...Transactions with me are swift, I pay in cash on the spot, and also protect the seller legally with all the needed forms, notorizations, and garage insurance policies...I use this board and many other avenues to "shop" for Cruisers, not spam up the board....I personally like buying vehicles from MUD because they come with good mods and you tend to get the whole story.

We just moved into a bigger location at 342 Sardis Rd in Asheville to better serve our customers...Feel free to check out my website at www.carsmartdirect.com

Anyone who mentions "Mud" to me will get my best price up front should they want to purchase a LC (or anything else, we carry lots of Cheaps and Taco's too)...It should be mentioned that I buy LC's all over the country, not just in NC...In the last month I have bought LC's from Florida, Texas, Colorado, etc.

I would also like to add that I am VERY interested in sponsoring some events, etc but don't know what steps to take to do so.

Again, for what its worth, I bought my first Cruiser in 1992, an 84' FJ60...This is an ever growing passion of mine!

We're not really ragging on you we're all just butt hurt that we keep getting beaten to the punch on all the deals we've been seeing on the NC craigslist and trying to jump.
Come on out to one of our events one time.

Hey, I will be glad to come out...Do the WNC guys still go to Cullowee or do the meet up with the SC group?

Dude, as far as getting deals, I AM a professional...My office looks more like NASA think tank than a car lot...lol

That's been closed down for the most part. Out next trip is to Gulches at the end of may, but a buddy and me might be doing a scouting run before that.

Its not hard to find deals...you just gotta be in the rigth place at the right time. I've thought about trying to make a living buying and selling used cruisers and toyota 4x4's...I just can't bring myself to be a used car dealer though.

I might be in Outer Banks soon sent an email with details
Talk to you soon
