Thanks Scoot for directing me to the great work from Rob Mullen. He has accumulated a lot of info for the rest of us. As I looked at it I found that it is an left hander pickup had a H41 4 speed & was yellow, it came from plant A (where ever that is) & it has an GVW of 11 (what ever that would be) and it has 9.5” ring gear, 3.70 HD Cruiser gear ratio, it is an open type and a possible date of manufacture from his info and some other it puts it at 78 or an 80. But my plate seems to be missing other data that I would like to know i.e. What country was its market meant for? W,Q,Y,K,A &V all seem to be missing to me. There is a great chance that it is right there in front of me and I am just to ignorant to know what it is that I am looking at. For this reason can any one out here tell me what else this tag can tell us?? Thanks for any help at all, Brian

I believe this is true because i have seen several 1985 FJ45s for sale in Venezuela. The picture however, happens to be of one in Central America. Awesome truck, i would give anything to be able to bring one to the states.

What kind of prices are we talking about these trucks for sale in Venezuela?

In Canada it is a bit easier to import these trucks, and I would be very interested in doing so.

I was wondering if any of you guys have ever seen a 1985 FJ or HJ 45. I passed this one while driving down the road a few months back, had the guy pull over and then asked him if it were for sale! turns out it was for sale and I would have bought it in a heart beat but I would have had to wait 5 years to be able to bring it to the US.
I never knew they manufactured an HJ45 in 1985. very interesting...

How much was he willing to sell it for???

I might have a fun time getting it registered here in SoCal.:whoops: :flipoff2:

Its over 25 yrs old. So should NOT have a problem at all getting it registered. Now as far as emissions and all that other gov't regulations you have, I havent a clue.

My experience with importing from Canada into Colorado where we have emission laws, I was told by the Colorado State office that because I was both NHTSA and EPA exempt, therefore I was exempt from Colorado emission laws.

Now I understand that California is a different beast, but maybe federal exemption trumps state requirements?
