Hi all,

This is commonly called a "spring over axle" (SOA) conversion.

Most of the info about doing a SOA on a 40 or 60 Series will be relevant to doing the same conversion on a 75 Series.

Try out the "search" function here on MUD; I am sure there are threads on doing the SOA swap on 70 Series trucks.

Good luck,

Alan

Hi all,

Dylan, most SOA experience in North America is on SWB vehicles like the 40 Series. Word has it that SOA provides a very comfortable ride in a SWB rig with better wheel travel.

In a LWB vehicle like the 75 Series the SOA conversion has generally been done (AFAIK) for more tire clearance, i.e. as a suspension lift.

As in any project, things are never as simple as the first appear. Thorough research, and attention to detail can have a big impact on the end result of this conversion, as in any other custom job.

Good luck,

Alan

Thanks Alan, funny you mention swb because just 3 days after you're msg I acquired a very tidy fj73 as a swap for a slightly modified falcon I had sitting around, having this unexpected win happen means my Ute will stay stock for now and the shorty will be the project, Ill be putting a build thread together soon
