Have an '85 70 with the 3B inline pump, h55f sitting at 427KM. During start up its normal with regular smoke and then disappears after a few minutes of warmup. During hard acceleration it does not smoke, no black smoke either. It idles smoothly at about 800rpm. Pretty much like every old cruiser Ive owned over the years its a road tractor and so I don't drive it fast because you're not going anywhere fast especially in a 3B.
The truck has always had issues with more than normal fuel vapor. Ive owned tons of diesels and this one just burns your eyes and lungs after being it in for any length of time. I never worry about tailgaters because no one is willing to drive behind me closer than twenty or more car lengths. New fuel filters and water trap, Valves are all adjusted proper and I went ahead and put in new injectors. Still have the problem. The truck ran this way when I bought it and I have zero history on what may or may not have been done to the engine. I just know starts every time, idles great, runs like it should. This is my first 3B and Ive not done any work on it other than what has been listed above. It doesn't over heat or seem to be out of place other than what is going on other than what I think is to much fuel being dumped into the engine. Im hoping it is something simple as for now this is my own means of transportation due to my main DD engine going out. I really could use some help troubleshooting this so I don't spend all my time getting choked out.
