My dad recently had some tranny problems on his 1985 4Runner 4x4 with 4 speed auto and 22re.
He took it to Aamco and they supposedly rebuilt the tranny but now cannot complete the repair because of some missing / defective electronic part that connects the tranny with the computer in the dash (something like that). This part apparently allows for proper shifting from gear to gear at the proper RPM. Currently the truck shifts erratically but very smoothly (feels like new according to my dad). Aamco claims that the part is no longer available and a junkyard search came up empty.
Does anyone know of a shop in South Florida that specializes in old Toyota trucks and 4Runners? If this cannot be fixed he will have to give it up and he loves that truck. Any help is appreciated.
