ok, i bought a 1984 toyota 4x4 off of a co-worker. it has some electrical problems, but i just want to fix it as inexpensive as possible and just make it my daily driver. The tac does not work, there are no back lights on the guage cluster, the temp sensor does not work, and worst of all, if the wiper motor is plugged in it will run the wipers when the key is on. i about died in a sudden rain storm on the freeway the other day. I have some quick and dirty solutions i am thinking about trying, but wanted some input from the gang here. i had an 82 which i built, loved it. i now have a land cruiser fj80 which i wheel. any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

**I have not had time to do any diag on it. it may be soemthing simple. i am walking outsaide right now to do it, so i will post back details that i find.**

Could easily be a bundle of wires that has worn or melted through the insulation. If it was mine I'd start grabbing bundles of wires and shaking them while things are on. That may help locate where the bad wires are by blown fuses and/or stuff cutting in and out.

Yeah, apparently the po hooked up jumper cable wrong and that is when the trouble began. I did a tune up and the truck runs great. Still needs carb work, has a brand new factory carb but it needs to be tuned. If that doesn't work I have a weber ready to go on. I think the problem is in the combination switch, which I don't want to replace. If I can get one speed from my wipers, or a high low I would be stoked. I plan on eventually building it, but not for a while. I'll try to post up pics.
