1984 4Runner Good Truck?

Could you tell me if a 1984 4Runner is a good truck for off roading, if so what should I look for on this truck to have for that year, Thanks John

1. what kind of offroading are we talking about here?
2. did they make 4Runners in '84? I thought the first year was '85...

84 4Runners are great for 4Wheeling. They were the first year for them. They have a solid front axle already but they were carburated instead of fuel injected. Like the pickups of that era they are prone to frame rust right where the front mount of the rear spring hanger is welded to the frame. look on the inside of the framrail on both sides to make sure it isn't rusted out. If it is stay away from it unless you can do metal fabricaton and can weld.

mine has been a great truck, but i did convert it to fuel injection.
