Thanks for all the help guys. I am planning on doing the things that you all suggested before I buy it; compression test, vacuum test, etc... I just can not get in touch with this @$$hole. I am begining to think that this deal was too good to be true. I'll keep you guys posted.

Thanks,
Chris

You did say this wasn't going to be your DD. I'd jump on it. You'll have plenty of time to work on it if you don't have to depend on it every day.

Finally purchased the truck yesterday. She runs great, except for a very loose front end, pulls severly to the right, no speedo/odometer, spongy brakes, and no emergency brake.
I spent the day cleaning it up. Looks a lot better, the chrome on the rims and bumpers looks great. The paint needs some work. It feels very dry and oxidized. All in all it was worth the $800.

Now off to fixing all the problems. I'll do some searching, but if you guys have any ideas off the top of your head, I'm listening.

Thanks

Quick check for the spedo gauge- make sure the cable running up behind the gauge cluster is plugged in correctly to the back of the spedo gauge.

CMD,

Hey, nice work finding this one! I looked for a year and still couldn't find anything close to what you did! If you need any help or want to talk Crushers, drop me a PM. I'm off Courthouse Rd between Providence and Hull St.

Geeez,

You guys in the US don't know how lucky you are...Your talkin about buyin a cruiser for $800??? I just bought a 61 in OZ at a GOOD price ( 88 140k good condition) for $13,000 and still HAD to spend $6000 to bring it up to scratch!!!!!
:(

My advice is to do all the tests you mentioned you will do.Then go right over it and add up the total cost of repairing all the things that need doing and remember it will probably be a lot more in the long run.
Good time to decide whether its worth keeping to drive or maybe keep it for parts and buy another cruiser.
Dont pour dollars into a rusty cruiser

Hi Cruza Whereabouts do you go for cheap parts?
Ive been using A1 Parts.4WD Shop and Odin autos for parts and Central 4x4 if I have to pay for labour

Hiya Rosco,

I use Robson Bros for labour jobs I don't want to do. Most of the non-specialised tool jobs I do myself, but ALL parts I get from Perth4wd. They have HEAPS of 61 they are wrecking, and can get new parts as well...

Good Luck
