Toyota lists the 2 Governor Springs for the 1981-87 FJ60 2F large cap distributor as NLA:

part# 19154-61102
part# 19153-61102

Does anyone know:
1) if the OEM parts are still available elsewhere?
2) what the spring constant for each of these OEM springs are?
3) if there are aftermarket springs with the same OEM spring constant that will work?
4) if there are aftermarket springs with similar spring constants that might be an improvement?

Many 60 series parts are going NLA from Mr T. Try SOR.

bump...

...am also wondering, if anyone else is working on this, whether or not you kept stock weights or modified/replaced (a) weight(s)?

At the rate that virtually everything FJ60 is becoming NLA, it seems that the only place the poor beast now belongs is hooked up to a trickle charger, dripping fluids, wearing diapers, while steeped in a coma in a garage. Pity. Mighty "Land Cruiser" denigrated into "Garage Queen". Oh the travesty of it all!

Ha, Ha! Yeah, but I'm not going down without a fight...and I doubt you are either...

...although, between you and me and MUD, if Toyota started importing 70 series to the US market, I might be encouraged to begin thinking more optimistically toward the future...

I would rob a bank to get a 70 if I didn't have the $. It would be worth it just to drive slow down the freeway with 46 cops on my tail.. just to savor all the new Land Cruiser goodness before I ran over a spike strip, got cuffed and was thrown in jail.

Well, you know, I like the suggestion some MUDers have made about importing an older 70 series...but the problem is going to be parts...at least with the 60s, they were sold to the US market so there are spare parts around...

And I'm wondering if the future for the 60 in the US is going to be to mount the 60 body (patched up, of course) onto an 80 rolling chassis and then your choice of powertrain flavor...

...because let's face it...the 60 is a sexy truck to look at, the interior parts of the 60 are few and DIYable enough, the 80 series chassis is a solid platform to work from (and parts enough) and if chosen wisely, the powertrain will be both functional and serviceable...

Giving these little gem of a thread a nice bump...again...just to see if anyone can recommend a direct replacement for stock (with stock emissions system installed) governor spring rates...maybe? Or aftermarket spring PNs they have been giving a try...
