I have found a nice 1980 4x4 which has the L43 transmission.
I know it's not the most desirable trans but is it serviceable under normal use ?
Also, is there a direct swap later model trans that will work ?

Thanks !

The only direct swap would be an L5x series. Its a cast iron as well. And it had the 5th speed with the shifter on top. The newer aluminum series (G&W or R151) are about 4.5"-5" longer.

Thanks, will the L50 or L52 fit without any modifications ?
