I have a power steering box from a '79 FJ40 that is a power steering box. Ran for years as a manual steering, don't know if the power stuff works, comes with hoses. Sellng for SOR core value $300. Located in Colorado, will ship.
Thanks for lookng.

No pump, but still has hoses attached, one side goes to the steering cooler and the other goes to the pump.

I guess its up to Kief. The reason I am selling at "Core" value is because I have not rebuilt it and it seemed to be a good place to start. If anything a person could use it for a core at SOR. Let me know.

The housings are no longer available from toyota. The internal parts are the same as the early mini truck power steering boxes. Rebuild kits are available. It's worth at least $300. IMO.

I have to many things to "rebuild" at the moment, I'll pass for now, thanks. If the price drops I might be interested if nobody else jumps on it. I already have working 60 boxes and a mini set up. Stock would be nice though.

they were at least a year ago, thats the last time I got one.

Looking at SOR, they want $950 for a rebuilt one, that price includes the CORE. I am pretty sure this works, just not totally sure, thats why I am selling for $300 that way a guy could at least get the CORE value if it didn't work. BTW - It works as manual, I just never hooked up the power...

Interested

So if a guy were to have a '76 FJ40, would this just bolt up in the stock location? Just don't have alot of experience, so looking for a little info... thanks!

yes, but you might have to shorten the steering shaft. also on a 76 there is not a stock location on the block for the PS pump, but I think there are alternative ways to mount the pump.

the only real difference between a fj40 PS box and a mini box is the angle of the mount, so by using a fj40 PS box you don't need the bracket that is used in a mini truck swap.

Ken, my cost of the new OEM PS castings was $275-ish, only one still in stock is the 79 casting, but it works on all years(79+)

If you use the stock steering box, I've been assured by the guys at SOR that it's a straight bolt up. If you use a mini truck box then, as pimp indicates, you will have to do some modification to the steering shaft becuase of the mount used on the non LC application.

FYI - steering box has been sold, thanks for all the good information.
