1978 Kawasaki KZ650

Mild café racer conversion including clubman bars and a fiberglass seat

Tank and side cover emblems have been removed, filled and painted over. Fill job isn't the best and you can still see where the emblems were... paint is just a spray job... not great, not awful

The starter occasionally makes a death grumble and could probably be rebuilt, but it works. Kick start works great and the bike usually starts on the first kick.

Gauges, signals, horn, etc have been removed. The ignition and light switches have been moved to a panel that the previous owner made. It works, but looks... well, meh. Rear light is an LED replacement. All of the original parts are included, seat fairing, bars, lights, gauges (reading 21,000), etc. Come close to my asking price and I'll throw in a bunch of other stuff (fiberglass Arlen Ness front fender, battery charger, etc)

I rode it 60 miles to the Woodward Dream Cruise, idled and cruised all day with no problems except it killed my butt without an actual seat pad... so I made a temporary replacement as seen in the pictures. It is not permanently attached, but could easily be.

In the meantime, I'm looking for something slimmer that will fit the café style better. But it does the job for saving your butt! Or you can ride it with no padding and look cool and pretend like it doesn't hurt :)

It's reliable. It starts, runs, shifts and drives great. Jetting is pretty good, sound is pretty good. It gets looks and thumbs up and people seem to like it... I just have too many projects and I know if I start tinkering with it, I'll end up with another project stripped down to the frame and a wife who's getting annoyed...

Will trade for a 4x4 4 cylinder Yota p/u, or (and my wife is going to kill me for even considering this) $2000ish worth of FJ80 accessories in the form of sliders/bumpers/winch/tire carrier/etc

Bump.

Hopefully somebody buys this before I start tearing it apart for no good reason...

EDIT: LOL, couldn't help it. Spent $45 on eBay last night on OEM tank emblems... thinking that I'm going to strip the tank, polish it and reinstall the emblems. Somebody stop me, please
