The sound is amazing. No issues at all. Very tight and accurate. If you guys will look at many of the sound quality winners at the national events each year you will see subs in the front. This is the best way to achieve proper sound stage and imaging.

I don't think that is a 73. At least it doesn't look like my doors, latches or my tailgates. Nice work and great design on speaker box.

Cool...
It really looks so sweet. You have done top notch there.

I believe I am partially deaf due to some nice equipment and stupid listening on my part. Hope you don't loose any hearing, not kidding.

hehehe, you are correct. It is a 73 tub and chassis with a 78 hardtop, front doors, and rear ambulance doors. :)

Thanks for the kind remarks guys.

This is a picture of it after the initial frame off restoration I did.

Since this was taken I have added
:
4 wheel disc brakes
air conditioning
rear gas tank
custom vdo dash panel
and many other things...

Up next are:
power windows
power steering
finish sound deadening and stereo system
replace that damn rain gutter
replace front fenders and repaint hood.

Did you recess the rear doors into the tub or do they overlap? I redid a set of 76 doors for my 74 but found out after painting the tub that I'd have to cut in a recess for them to fit right.

Kevin

I recessed the lower portion of each door 3/8" to allow clearance so the doors will sit flush with the tub.

Wow very nice. Dont see much stuff that nice especially int he 40 or 60 sections. I know I have a sub sitting for my 62 that I have had awhile. I keep putting it off b/c I keep wheeling more and more. Figure if I put a nice stereo in it I will just mess it up wheeling.

Nice job, any other pics of you 40?

I updated the pics to add a shot of the completed door pod installed.

What are you using for sound deadening? What products and where and how effective is it?

Your door speakers are very clean! Did you make those yourself or modify some existing application?

Thanks, I made them myself. They are constructed of ¾” mdf and fiberglass and bolt to the doors. I have 3 white leds recessed in the bottom to light up the entry way and a piece of black acrylic recessed in that is supposed to hold a Toyota emblem or have one etched into it. I haven’t got around to that yet. Here are some pictures of them.

Great job! I assume you're looking to have more of a nice daily driver instead of a trail pounder?

Nice skills; that stuff looks too much like art or witchcraft to me! Don't think I'd ever have the patience :)

You are correct, its a daily driver. Thanks:)

Awesome work! What's the purpose of the black panel towards the back of the speaker pod?

Will definitely use it as inspiration... love how it doesn't look out of place :)
