Here are a few shots of my pig. She's a 68, #FJ55-10816. A lot of work was done in the 90s by someone in AZ. A few particulars:

1. 77 2F engine w/4 speed

2. Big, funny bumpers, front holds air

3. 33 x 12.5s on M/T Classics (thnx Cruiserdoc)

4. Zolatone paint (ugly but has helped inhibit rust)

5. Interior redone in the 90s, has buckets and carpet

6. Solid, mostly rust free.

7. Expedition tank, 45 gallon

What I have done:

1. Install 2F manifolds

2. New 2F carb

3. Rebuilt radiator

4. F type air cleaner (thnx D'animal)

5. R&R glovebox lid (thnx Ige)

6. General tinkering

7. Install CB radio and power ports with its own fuse box

To be done:

1. Install OEM rubber mats (thnk Ige)

2. Repaint using roller method, Med blue & white from Ace

3. Rebuild steering shaft (new u joints)

4. Dual circuit master cylinder

5. Front disc brakes (maybe)

6. New main fuse box

7. GPS

8. Flat lens H4 halogen headlights on relayed system

9. M12000 winch with synthetic rope

10. Optima red top

11. Higher output alternator

Damn TXJake.......nice rig. Wait...I gotta go back and look some more:cheers:

thanks! I appreciate the comments. I am fired up, finally got a pig.....

Really is cool to see the early early rigs like both you guys got.....I wonder how many of the 68's are left? Wouldn't mind seeing a list of Mud members who own the 68 model.

that rear bumper's gotta go,but other than that, freakin' sweet!!!!! glad you're rescuing an oldie:cheers:

what about cutting it right at the tailgate, then cutting the rear tube off and rewelding it under the tailgate? just eliminating the overhang factor.

That's a cool looking Pig.

Wow Jake. That is a sweet Pig. Man your Dash looks familiar! but so much better than mine. I am jealous... Those 33's look great. Are you having any rub issues? I am looking at some this weekend for my 69.

thanks! you should see whats under the rug on the dash! I am getting a dash cap from dent doctor/cruiser crazy soon....

no rub yet, but have not done a bunch of wheeling. a couple of other factors that may skew this for you:

1. tires are pretty well worn, so newer 33s might be different

2. I have a set of 1.5" spacer/adapters on the front from my previous wheel setup that push the wheels away from the springs

3. These wheels (M/T Classics) have great backspacing for a cruiser; Cruiserdoc ran them on his FJ40 until he went bigger.
