THAT is FAWKING HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A about spit out my coffee!

I actaully have one of these from my house boating days...
I can move it myself when full, but its FAWKING HEAVY!

A buddy got the 165 and they brought it on a camping trip last weekend. Way too big. Took 2 to move it and filled way too much space. They're returning it. I think a big cooler's great for certain applications but it failed as a family car camping item. I think they need one between this size and the small one as we all agreed about 3/4 this size would be the right range. Did not seem to keep ice any longer than the wide variety of coolers there, either. Including my cheap 20 year old Coleman with a broken latch. Nice handles though.

Id have to disagree on not keeping the ice. 4 days trip, 90 degree heat, and i would say 25% of the ice was gone. HOlds ice perfect. And the size complaint is a little weird. DId they think it would of got smaller when they brought it home. lol.
It works great for my family and stows perfectly right on the trailer.

THe weight of this thing fully loaded is RIDICULOUS though. I put it on the trailer, and it never moves after that.

Agree - kind of dumb to get it and then complain about the size later. On the ice thing, they only had it about 1/3 full of food and ice so dunno if the internal air space that resulted was a factor but none of us were impressed. Might be the more ice/food fills it the better it maintains the quantity of ice originally put in.

Air is an extremely poor insulator and heat/cold sink.

I wouldn't be surprised if only 1/3rd full it didn't stay cold very long.

What works really well is put soem ice in it a few hours before you fill it, then load it up, add your ice and your good.

We had ours sitting in the 90 degree sun and ice was good. WE put 3 blocks on the bottom, then about 8 bags of ice.

I always use block ice in coolers. Works much better than cubed ice. Also when I have a chance I freeze my own blocks in 1/2 gallon milk and juice jugs. That way when the water melts it stays in the jug and doesn't go all over the place in the cooler.

Yes, pre-cooling the cooler works wonders for initial ice longevity.

I bought 2 of these. Excellent price! They are big and are more suited for hunting/fishing. Or at least that what we use them for.

Oh, man, thats a good idea on the ice in the jugs.... NOw i just need a big enough freezer. lol.

x2 My family goes thru over 7 gallons of milk a week, so I clean out the jugs, fill them (mostly) with water, and stick them in the deep freezer. As the meat supply in the freezer dwindles through the year, I fill the voids (from the bottom up) with the frozen jugs. This also keeps my freezer running much more efficiently.

As a kid, my dad always did this, and when us kids would go to a soccer game/practice or the like, we would always grab a jug out of the freezer a few hours ahead of time and let it start to thaw. Come game time, we would have a half gallon of really freakin cold water!

The fuller you keep a freezer the more efficient it is. I keep mine full of frozen jugs as much as possible. I use juice jugs because they don't seem to retain flavor as much as milk jugs, they are also smaller so when we use them in ice chest you can layer them around food and drinks better.

WE also prefer two or more medium sized ice chest. Lighter to load and unload, easier to pack around, and I can use one strictly for drinks. This results in the food ice lasting twice as long as the drink ice since the food chest only gets opened a couple of times a day.

2 big chest freezers here...:D I've been threatening to make my store room into a walk in freezer.

I do the same here.

I mostly use 1/2 gallon juice cartons as that is what I generate the most of.

Man, those are some good cooler tips - thanks!
