I am considering running a 15xXx33 or 35 tire... Do to the cost of buying brand new 315/75/16 or the 285 pretty expensive compared to used (80% tread) craigslist specials:cheers:.

I know backspacing should be around 4-5.5 depending on 8", 9" or 10" width, reality width is 1" more than what is posted.

Just wondering if anyone can post some pictures of 15" rims.

What is the width of the 15"?

What tire size are you running with them?

What is your backspacing?

Any spacers involved?

And last but not least.... Do you like them?

Of course your going to be running MT'S? RIght?

Search. There is several thread with the info your looking for. Biggest thing I think is you have to do a little grinding to fit over the rear disc brakes you got. 91-92 came with 15" wheels, but drum brakes. IIRC

15s won't fit on a 96.

I have 33x12.50x15 Firstone Destination M/T's on my 1991 with no spacers. Since others are saying 15's wont fit on your rig (I have no idea) just look at what you're missing! :crybaby: They ride well on the road and off and look really good. I love these tires, they are rated really well and have a 45,000 mile warranty.

Cheers!

I just took them off my truck, the 15s cleared my front calipers, and I used 1.5in spacers on the rear to clear the calipers. 10X15 steel rims 3.5 BS, 35X14.5X15 Mickey Thompsons. Sorry no pictures.

not missing any thing 15"wheels is old school get with the times run 16"in australia it is illegal to run spacers and it puts undue stress on the hub and bearings so run 16"

You should have an early 80 model. After 94 the 80 series got 16" rims and bigger brakes.
16" rims fits on early 80 but 15" rims do not fit on an 96 or later model.

15s do not fit on US spec 80s 93 and newer.

94 FZJ with semifloat rearend drum brakes
and 15" rims with 3" backspacing
they clear the front brakes by about an 1/8 inch

I don't think so... part numbers for oem front pads and rotors are the same for 93 and 97.Pads 04491-60180 rotors 43512-60090 as per Toyodiy.

I wanted to go with the setup that kidglove has on his rig.

I guess that I'll just have to find some 16's like those on craigslist or something.

Getting my 850J's/863's in a couple of days and didn't want to install them until I have some big shoe's on.

I'll do a search and see what is the whole bit about grinding down the rear caliper.

Great looking truck.

The problem is going to be the rear calipers as you know.
I got lucky with these alloys that I pickup they just clear the front calipers.
For your 96 I think that you need to find a steel wheel because they will have less material than an alloy and could fit better.
There has been dicusions on this.
Do a search and see what you find.

Hmm, maybe it's the difference between HDJ and FZJ. HDJ definately have other brakes after late 94. (internal designation HDJ82)
