Wanted to see if I like it better or worse. So far I’m a fan. Ironically it’s easier to get in and out now. Not sure how I’ll wash the roof though - maybe one of those extendable car wash brushes. Makes me want to accelerate the lift and tire upgrade.

Simple 12 mm socket wrench and about 10 minutes had them off. Bolts back in once removed of course.

Only had them off for a day.
Haven't cleaned her undersides up yet in these pics.

I like it better with them for various "protective" measures and for ease of other passengers to enter. Kids, the elderly, the wife, the mom. They all like a little step into your rig. I have also planked on them to bypass some rather large bird bathes in parking lots when you come out to a downpour that you didn't anticipate. Like walk along the step holding the side rails and get to my driver door without getting my shoes wet AF. They have no real slider purpose but I did catch mine on a fence post going in a really narrow gate and it kicked me off the fender at least. Otherwise, crinkle dent. Just escaped with a little scuff. It is clean without them but if you go with a lean slider you can get the same function and better protection with less visual distraction. I dunno just a comment. Like your truck, tho.

Interested in this definitely down the road. Only been a day off so still digesting the pros and cons. Everything you mentioned makes sense though. Wife is 5’5” and have a two year old so we’ll see.

I have two 7 year olds (blended family) and I don't think they could figure out how to get in without putting their feet, face, butt, backpack, knee, elbows, whatever on the running boards. Lol.

I took mine off a while back and like the look way better with them off. My wife is 5"4" and she can drive the truck fine. Has been the last few days while her LX was in the shop. My nine year old gets in and out just fine too. Unless you have really small kids or are married to a midget, the height is not an issue.

Stand on the tire or open a door to wash the roof. I'm relatively short (5'9'') and have to stand on the tire of my lifted LC to be able to reach the entire roof.

A fence cost me $2k in damage. Now you are making me thinI maybe my running board would have saved me!
